It’s not just about the dollar amount. It’s about the doors that open, the awareness spread, the foundation laid for research projects, and the feeling we all should have that says our government is working for all of us, wants to work for the greater good. So when you see that the measly $25 million for lung cancer research was lowered to $0.00 (yup, ZERO) along with research on kidney cancer, pancreatic cancer, and glioblastoma(brain cancer) and oh, nope, colorectal cancer (2nd leading cause of cancer death) isn’t even on the list, all you can do is feel that our Congress and our Administration simply do not care about We the People.
I could talk (and I do in my FB posts) about all the truly despicable things happening with this administration such as ending vaccine programs in needy countries that will lead to the deaths of an estimated 2 million children in the next five years. I could, but this blog is primarily focused on my lung cancer journey and on spreading awareness and hope about living life well with stage IV lung cancer. So I just want to share some fact sheets with you today and not get carried away on a rant. Please read them and then sign on to an effort to restore cancer funding. We the People are dying while the Billionaires and Oligarchs get tax breaks here in these United States of America.
